It always amazes me how God brings people into our lives for a reason. My daughter-in-law had mentioned a while ago about one of her friends that was her age having breast cancer. She had asked me to pray for her as she had surgery and was choosing her treatment options. I have been praying for her, and ask about her when I talk to my daughter-in-law.
I had been praying as to where God would want me to give the next paycheck’s ten dollars. I happened to be chatting with my daughter-in-law one day when she mentioned this girl again. I asked how she was feeling. My daughter-in-law informed me that this girl was experiencing pains in her abdomen and the doctors were running tests.
I knew that the girl was one of my daughter-in-law’s childhood friends and that she was approximately the same age. She also had a husband and two children. My heart sank as to this whole situation. If the girl happened to be my age it would have been easier to bear, but when she is so young with young children, that is a different story.
I prayed about an amount to send with a card of encouragement. I then put her name on my prayer list and have been praying for her at various times throughout my day.
Last week I received a text from my daughter-in-law that the tests results were in, and that she has stage 4 breast cancer. My heart sank. Yes, I know God can do miracles and I do believe He could heal this girl completely. My thoughts went to her husband, her children, my daughter-in-law and her parents. I will continue to pray for everyone involved in this situation.
I truly think that we would be amazed to know of the woman and young ladies who have, or have had breast cancer. I am amazed at how many of my customers at work have had it, and have been cured. How can we help these ladies? Maybe by giving them a hug, a card, some words of encouragement, or bringing a meal to their home. Ironically it is usually the woman who have already had breast cancer that are the ones that are out there doing things for other cancer victims.
October is breast cancer month! What are you doing about it? You can wear your pink pins, T shirts, earrings and other clothing, but how are you helping an individual that has this disease? Imagine you have been diagnosed with cancer, what would you like someone to do for you? Why not do that act of kindness for someone else? And let’s not limit our “acts of kindness” to just one month!
